Manchester, NH — March 22, 2006 — Robert Heckman of EPTAC Corporation was presented with the Distinguished Committee Service Award from the IPC for acting as Chairman for the development and release of the IPC standard IPC-8497-1 “Cleaning Methods and Contamination Assessment for Optical Assembly”.
The standard describes the methods of inspecting and cleaning all optical interfaces so that interconnectivity integrity of the optical signal is maintained. The information provided focuses on techniques and methods to accomplish maximum quality of the interface and describes methods of contamination prevention.
Mr. Heckman served as Chair to the Committee to develop this standard from his extensive involvement in fiber optic cleaning and handling. “We are very please to have Bob as one of our Master IPC Instructors and we look forward to his further contribution to our training efforts.” says Mark Pilkington, President of EPTAC Corporation. “Bob has continued the long standing tradition of EPTAC in actively participating in setting many standards in the electronics industry.”
